Jaworki and Area
The
area:
Pieniny
Mountains is one of Poland’s national parks and a nature
reserve close to Tatra Mountains and famous for its river Dunajec (raft
rides available from Easter to late September/October). This attracts
tourism from all over Poland and abroad (mini buses from Jaworki and
Szczawnica (neighbouring spa and health resort). Szczawnica (approx 3
miles from Jaworki) is famous for its micro climate and various mineral
waters.
It has a chair lift to its neighbouring
highest peak (ski runs,
summer walks). Two hot spring swimming pools approx 1hr distant,
Zakopane (1 ¼ hrs by car), Auswitz (3hrs ), Wadowice,
Wieliczka salt mine (2hrs), Krakow and Divine Mercy shrine (2hrs) - all
possible as day trips.
The
Village of Jaworki:
Many consider Jaworki as the finest village in Poland. It boasts not
only its own chair lift (summer and winter), but also lovely walks
through the Homole gorge, valley of Biala Woda, Czarna Woda and
Zaskalskie. Some longer climbs afford the views of Tatra Mountains and
lead through forested hills. All can be undertaken from the house
without the use of a car.
The village has an outdoor restaurant/bar
and a good restaurant (Polish
food) in a traditional wooden construction. There are two shops and a
church with Orthodox décor and Catholic worship. There are
two riding schools. In winter slay rides are offered. Summer (from
Szczawnica to Jaworki): horse carriage rides and children’s
fun railway.
There are regular mini buses between
Jaworki an Szczawnica.
